With a diverse background in industrial design and residential architecture, and a passion for crafting minimalist furniture from high end materials, Tim has molded a pedestrian hobby into a custom process that is only possible through a unique combination of skill, experience, and the highest level of craftsmanship.
After sourcing the exotic and domestic green hardwoods from North and South America, Tim dries the wood in a hand crafted kiln in his shoppe. The dehumidification process varies from weeks to months to years, depending on the variety. The slabs, available as individual pieces or joined together through a number of techniques, are then planed, sanded, and ready for treatment. Typical finishes involve stains, shellacs, urethanes, lacquers and food-safe hand rubbed oils.
The customization doesn’t stop there. Tim explores various methods and materials for raising the slabs, each thoughtfully designed per the variety and size of the piece. Popular methods include custom designed metal frames, wood legs, waterfall edges, and even custom molds for lightweight concrete pedestal bases.
